Project Overview

boxiew.com is a multi-category global business directory and e-commerce marketplace that allows verified companies to list their services and sell products online. The platform spans categories including Travel & Tourism, Hospital & Lab, Constructions, Home & Office, Lifestyle, and IT & Software. Users can browse supplier profiles, explore product listings, add to cart, and make purchases — while businesses can register as partners, manage their profiles, and list products/services. The platform also features an affiliate/career program, multi-currency support (USD, BDT, INR), client reviews, and a subscription-based pricing plan for suppliers.

Technical Approach

Boxiew is built as a full-stack Laravel application with Blade templating, Bootstrap-based responsive frontend, and a MySQL database backend. The platform handles multi-vendor supplier profiles, a product catalog with pricing and discount logic, a shopping cart system, and multi-currency display. My contributions covered selected frontend UI sections and backend feature development — including category/subcategory listing logic, supplier profile pages, product display with pricing, and related CMS or admin functionality.

Challenges & Solutions

Building a multi-category directory with nested subcategories (category → subcategory → supplier) required a flexible hierarchical data model that could scale across completely different verticals — from hotels to hospitals to furniture. The product marketplace layer adds e-commerce complexity on top of a directory structure, requiring cart, pricing (original vs. discounted), and multi-currency handling to work cohesively. Supplier onboarding and profile management needed to be self-serve while remaining moderated for quality and verification.

Outcome

Boxiew is live and operational, featuring verified partner listings from notable companies including Amari Dhaka, ANWAR Landmark, All India Institute of Medical Sciences, Cox & Kings UK, and others. The platform successfully bridges business discovery and online purchasing across multiple industries and countries, with multi-currency support serving BD, IN, and international users.
